This is a fun and informative team activity that combines the modalities of music, percussion and dance.

When we hear music that we like it makes us want to move, to maybe even get up and dance or at least tap our fingers and toes. But music also affects us at a biological level, internally it can affect our blood pressure, heart rate, hormones, and immune system. Externally it can give us goosebumps, or spine-tingling chills or even drive us to tears. Music is universal. All groups of people, no matter where they are from, all of them make music. It is a universal human skill.

Music also activates pathways within the complex limbic system, which is involved with memory, learning and emotional responses. It releases dopamine in the brain and also raises our levels of oxytocin. So, music is a social glue that clearly enhances or sense of wellbeing.

Now combine all of this with movement and dance in a group and something very special happens. Absolutely no dance experience is needed as innovative pictorial cues allow the team to remember the choreography. We explore different rhythms, using different genres of music and ways of moving our bodies. When we get to use of whole body, it frees us. In this workshop, the team at invited to step out of judgement of ourselves and others and to explore movement as we let go and dance. Where we step out of our heads and open our minds. This is an opportunity to explore, play and be creative with our bodies regardless of our physical ability. Where we have tons of fun as we transform the way we think about ourselves as we walk through the day.
